1/11/21 the week I almost went deaf
Life just keeps flying by... but it might come to a running stop here because we are getting put into a full out 2 week quarantine...actually just kidding. Probably not. We never stop running. Literally and metaphorically.
So this week we:
-started teaching a man named Luis who has a small, DIY church in his backyard that he showed us during our lesson... he tried to teach him the restoration but he just sang us 45 minutes worth of Alabanzas... he had the sound turned all the way up on his speakers and so my ears were ringing by the end. We kept on trying to tell him we had to leave but he couldnt hear us... it was nice to see someone so dedicated to something they love though. Maybe if we pass by again we will sing him Joseph Smith's First prayer
-- Pilar is still Pilar! Firey as usual but she came to church (we started a sacrament meeting in the park) and she brought her whole family!! It was an awesome sight to see as we have been trying to get them ALL to come together for quite a while. Pilar is an amazing woman. Honestly I admire her so much. She also terrifies me sometimes. Regardless she is all in when it comes to the gospel! We are working to help her feel supported by the little group here in town.
- we got to be Zone Leaders for the day and lead a Zone Training as the actual Zone Leaders car broke down and they had to deal with that.. so instead of doing just 1/2 of the training for the hour... we did the whole thing!! It was certainly an adventure.
- I had an exchange with one of the Sister Training Leaders down in Porterville and so I spent the day down there with Sister McCready, learning from her! It was kinda the best day ever. I love all the Sister Training Leaders I cover. They are all amazing and inspire me... especially Sister McCready. She is a powerhouse!! It was fun to actually see hills for the first time in 17 months (porterville is nestled in the mountains) and we ate dinner with a group of recent converts and some friends they are teaching and it was honestly the best thing ever!! We taught the restoration and each recent convert there shared their testimony of the Book of Mormon and how it has changed their lives and I was shooketh. It was a very good day.
There are some amazing people here in Dinuba! I love being a part of the community and recognizing people at Walmart and trying to teach everyone and their moms and their dogs!! Good times!
