7/6/20: that 6th taco never hurt so good
Welcome back everyone! It has been another good, hot, sweaty, cake filled week. Let's run through the highlights.
- I am 20 years old! I had a super awesome birthday on Tuesday starting with completing a goal I have had a looooong time. We woke up at 6am and rode 9 miles to just this giant mansion I have seen on these back roads outside of Ceres. We took some pictures and rode back all within exercise time. Birthday wish completed. Hermana Curtis was a huge sport for coming with me haha! We got back to the apartment only to be attacked with silly string and suprised with a giant Costco cake. Friends. I looooove costco cake and these sweet sisters went all the way to Turlock to get me one with a borrowed Costco card to get me one. You can only imagine my reaction haha! Highlight of my 20 years so far.
- we found someone!! Her name is Lupita and her 9 year old grandson is a member of the church (kinda a long story)... the only member in his family so we have been biking over there to visit him a lot lately. His house was actaully the house we biked to on that crazy hot day last week. So blessings! But yeah Lupita wanted a Book of Mormon and she told us that missionaries knocked her door all the time and she never answered but she felt bad for us that one day we biked and were super sweaty so she started talking to us and decided she wanted to know more
- this week transfer calls came! I am staying in Ceres to finish Hermana Curtis's training and to be a Sister Training Leader! Hermana Heiner is off to a little town down south called Lemoore and Hermana Wegesend is staying here (bless that perfect human I cant love without her) and TRAINING!! So it is going to make for an awesome transfer!
- the 4th of July was a great time! We parked the car and started walking all the way to a members house about a mile away (cars and bikes had to be parked before a certain time and member rides are not allowed with the whole Corona thing right now) we ate like 7 tacos and then had to literally sprint back to the apartment, fireworks going off in the streets all around us, and got back literally at 9:30 exactly. I love running but I was also wearing a dress and wearing like nice church shoes and carrying like 6 tacos in me and it was HOT and we were dodging fireworks. Regardless it was pretty funny... until I took off my shoes and saw these giant red welt blisters. So we will be dealing with that this week but honestly worth it.
- this week I learned that Christ commanded 2 things. Love God and Love thy neighbor as you love THYSELF. If you don't love yourself than you don't have the capacity to love others. So love who you are and where you are. You can improve and will so much faster if you can acknowledge your strengths and enjoy where you are!
- lots of love and gozo and paz and cosas así
- Hermana Allen
