6/29/20: by the sweat of our brow

Let's set the stage. It is a Friday and it is 110 degrees outside. It is the heat of the day. We haven't had a lesson all week but we finally scheduled 2 for the evening with a couple member families. They live on exact opposite sides of town. We are on bike. I love a challange and I love biking and I literally just wanted to feel some type of sweat on my brow from doing the lords work... little did we know. We started the journey in the heat of the day and we arrived at our first appointment just absolutely dripping and at this point I dont think I could get any hotter but than the real fun begins. We started the long long dusty mostly side walk-less road and we see a cop with his window down who asks us where we are going. We tell him the address and he just stares at us and wishes us good luck and then slowly drives away. I would like to say that I am a good biker. I love biking actually, it is something that I take a lot of joy in and I bike fast. Hermana Curtis is the exact opposite and so the fact that we have been on bikes pretty often has been kinda hard for her these past weeks. So that plus the heat and the distance is making it hard to keep spirits high. About 3/4ths of the way through the journey we paused at a busy road and I am just dying and dripping more than I have in my life and I look at my companion who I cant tell if she is crying or sweating and I think "oh my gosh I think I might actually kill her if we keep going..." but no! The Lord had asked us to go to this lesson and so there we would go!! So onward!! About a mile away from the appointment my tire popped (we were on the side of a busy road with lots of broken bottle so makes sense....) I could feel it but I was like if we stop we will never make it... so we continued the heat making everything slightly more heightened in my mind. We reached the appointment just absolutely sopping wet in sweat and super hazy and hearts pounding and heavy breathing and the hermana in the home just opens the door and stands there for a minute looking super shook at the sight before her. We mustered out a lesson and nothing really special happened but afterwards as we were waiting and making some calls for the other sisters to pick us up (no way we could ride back on my flat lol) the real miracle occurred! Hermana Curtis decided and told me that after that expirience bike riding she could literally accomplish anything. I felt the same lol. We had made it through a low together and have kinda a funny/struggle expirience that has brought us a lot closer together and helped us come to a couple realizations about one another. I am super proud of her for actively working to overcome something that I know has been really hard for her! She followed the Lords will in faith and kept going and she is awesome!! We really just needed a low that day to help us up if that makes sense... we did it! And we will plan our days better to make sure that we dont do that again cause I think it might have been a little dangerous?

Ok moving on... JUAN GOT BAPTIZED AND HE IS LITERALLY PERFECT. Honestly he was so excited and he brought a friend and his dad and his step mom to the baptism and introduced them to us and was like yall should read the Book of Mormon with them... we got to witness for his baptism and that was super special. He also shared his testimony at the end of the program and was like 1 Nephi chapter 8 changed my life. Heck yeah!! He will be meeting with the YSA elders now as he wants to prepare for a mission but honestly it was such a miracle just to even work with him. The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ and Christ changes people.  Juan is walking proof of that and all we had to do as missionaries was hand him a copy!
Yo yo I am gonna be 20 tomorrow!! Also Hermana Wegesend turned 20 this week so we are gonna have a little party with some pie we got at a fruit stand and a piñata filled with taco bell sauce packets! Good times!
We continue to work hard to work hard!
Lots of love!
