6/08/20: We found the right Juan

Another great week here in Fresno!!

Honestly started off a little rough... we had a couple lessons, in person, outside (what a blessing) that we were really excited about but the people we taught just had no interested in the restoration or what we had to share and that was a little hard. We also had to cancel a big community event we were working on because of some new curfews and safety rules preventing even small gatherings. Buuuuuuut prayers of faith really really really WORK!!! We have been praying all week and studying all week for someone that we could find that would simply just listen to the message of the restoration... and we didnt find anyone... but someone was brought to us.
Juan is actually the most amazing person EVER. Juan actually saw the Elders who work a neighboring area when they were getting groceries last Monday at the store he works at. Juan wanted their number and invited them over where they taught the restoration and Juan accepted every single word. The Elders then called us and invited us to a pass off lesson (as Juan lives in our area) and wow. This kid is so ready for the truth and the gospel and change!!! He was a Jehovahs Witness but stopped attending and doing preaching work for the church (a big deal because now his family has sort of stopped interacting with him) and this kid is just looking for Christ and to become better. We were just blown away. We pulled so many strings to get him to our little missionary church sacrament meeting and then we gave a tour of the church and he asked about every single painting and room in the building. It was just the most amazing thing ever.
This week we also got caught up in the middle of a protest... we were in the church alone and people just came out of no where and started marching around. It was very peaceful but we were like uhhhhh hmmm we should probably leave as discreetly as possible.
We as an apartment have also become very creative in meal planning. With our new George Forman grill we made burgers... paninis... bacon... oh yeah we have been working that grill it has been great! We literally work more unified than ever all in our tiny little kitchen throwing together these super legit meals. We are one in purpose. To eat.
Also our English classes are up and running! Everyone in the classes are super sweet and excited to learn!
Hermana Curtis is doing wonderful! It has been a super crazy transition to go from Peru for a week to home to here and then to literally stay here all day... we have doing Facebook finding at different parks for an hour and then switching the park. We also have been practice teaching SO MUCH with every available companionship in the mission that we can call. We both have been improving in a variety of skills and understanding. This week I found myself asking why does God love me so much? Why does he allow me to feel joy and witness these miracles when I am so faithless sometimes. But God never does anything to benefit just one of his children. He is the best activity planner of all time haha! He knows and loves all of us and knows what we need and will give it to us sothat we can go forward and bless more of his sons and daughters. Sometimes all of what we need is each other.
Love you all!
