5/27/20: Telestial...Terrestrial...and, uhhh CHOLESTEROL
What what whaaaaaat??? We had a baptism this week? Whaaaat?? WhAAAAAt??? Out of nowhere!!!
Ok well actually not out of nowhere... there is this amazing woman, Gloria Olmos, I think I have talked about her before a little, but she has been investigating the church for YEARS and we finally got her over and through just this one speed bump and cleared her for baptism and told her on Monday that she could pick any day and she was kinda nervous about getting baptized still so she said she would pray about it... but then she called us on Tuesday and said she wanted to get baptized on Thursday!! We were so excited!!! We got the little service ready and had just 9 people there to support her and it was perfect! I asked her what made he decide to get baptized so quickly and she said that she knew that more than ever-with everything going on- that she needed the savior as close as possible... and so why wait? I love that mentality! Why wait?? Dont let this quarantine post pone anything, find a way to do it! Use this time especially to come closer to your savior!! Now then ever we need him and our families around us.
Also this week... we recorded another music video!! And wow it was really hard. We teamed up with a few other vompanionshops of elders, one of them could play the guitar and the others has a friend in their branch with all this super high tech sound equipment! So on a whims notice we showed up at this old empty missionary apartment and all set up a very makeshift recording studio in the most sound isolated part of the apartment.. the closet. We then began recording. I was singing and an elder was playing a guitar and both were recorded separately but we kept running into little problem after problem. Needless to say I was in that closet listening over and over again through head phones to a variety of opinions from a variety of missionaries and the sound technician and singing for... 2 hours. It was kinda awesome actually. It was a great way to stretch my skill and put to use something I love to do! Sing! The song came out really nice and we are excited to pair it up with some nice filmed scenes!
You may be wondering what the heck we are doing with these videos... why the heck are we spending time making them. Good questions. Quick answer. Everything is online now, including our finding and locating people interested in hearing the gospel. The videos we make we try to make very spiritual, christ centered. We share with local groups and try and spread them out and then literally ANYONE who likes, comments, shares... we message and try and to talk to them! This week we started teaching a woman named Selena from New Mexico over facetime just from applying that system!
We are currently working on a tri-city family hispanic cookoff too with a few other Spanish speaking companionships! More details to come, but we hope to get a bunch of families and local cooks involved (while painting social distancing... the tricky part) and interviewing them throughout the cookoff and asking how food has brought their family close together! These are creative times we are living in haha
Speaking of food... we had a lesson with a recent convert named Pancho over facetime! I have no words to describe Panchito. He had more character than any other 18 year old boy I have ever met. But we were talking about the 3 kingdoms of glory in the plan of salvation and he was naming them off and we were so excited he was getting them all right but then... haha see the title of the email... we love Pancho!
Well that is all the highlights!
