Moroni 10:5 and by the power of the holy ghost ye may know the truth of all things
The title above is Moroni 10:5 in Maori... the language of native New Zealanders (the Maori), pretty hype. And we are memorizing this in Maori because we are teaching two teenage boys that came all the way from New Zealand to the US to be baptized. They are distantly distantly related to the Tuitupou family and they are staying with them. The boys, Jayduse and Lee, are honestly kinda little punks sometimes... kinda understandable though because this was not their choice to be dragged here on their break from school, during christmas, and stay with some random family members but we are breaking into them slowly. Their father was a member but he just passed away this year so their mom sent them here. We had this idea that if we memorize a scripture in Maori (they speak both english and Maori) that they would have to memorize the first vison. When we came back the next day they had the scripture MEMORIZED completely and were able to recite it to us. These kids are super flipping smart and so much fun to teach even though they are kinda crazy haha! They are getting baptized on the 27th of this month so we have been HAULING and giving them a lesson every single day. We taught them about temples recently and it was so so so cute because they just went wild when we told them there was one in New Zealand!!
wowowowow
this week was super wild for lots and lots of reasons but the first being that Vinnie and Gabriel were baptized this week!!! Gabriel is just the cutest and we made Jayduse and Lee come to his baptism so now they are friends. Oh yes we are gonna make sure that all these crazy little thugs have good, solid, uplifting friendships. Heavenly Father really pulled a miracle on us because we were able to get most of Gabriel's family all the way from Dos Palos -even though they don't have a working phone or car- to the baptism on time. Special thanks to our Heavenly Father and the one member family that lives in Dos Palos for providing them rides. Gabriel was so happy and so so cute and has decided that he one day wants to serve a mission in Hong Kong so we put the Hong Kong temple on the back of his program.
Oh my gosh then an hour later we had Vinnie's baptism!!! I got to witness and I actually cried tears of joy. This boy just came out of nowhere and he was so ready and has a heart of SOLID GOLD. And we finally got to meet a member of his family! his dad came to the baptism and was definitely super super nice and not scary like we thought because he was once on our do not contact list. His dad was actually really supportive and excited for Vinnie! (pictured below as he holds up the program smiling next to Vinnie) and wow just the spirit that was there when Vinnie was baptized!! he was so excited! we are going to the temple with him and some members of the ward later this week to do some family names!
Ok also this week we got Jose Chiquillo to the temple... I can't even describe the miracle that is. Jose is super super super shy and really does not like people so to get him there was just amazing. and then beyond our wildest dreams (and thanks to a super wonderful member in our ward who has reached out to Jose a lot) Jose felt comfortable enough to do baptisms!! It was just the most amazing experience and he was so so happy afterwards! I have never ever seen him talk that much and he even let us set up a family history account for him... on the condition that we make his Dog BigBoy a child record under his name.... line upon line my friends.
wow what a week and so much is coming! I flipping love christmas and it is just thebesttimeoftheyeartogetoutan dservepleasegoto Lighttheworld.org o illuminaelmundo.org andfindouthowyoucanshowotheryo ulovethemandgivebacktoyourcomm unitytoday.
