09/12/19- The Great Heist

Last week here in the CCM! Just a couple days now until we head up to Fresno and I feel no where near ready Spanish wise but super excited to get there! Honestly the days have just morphed into a blur of sand volleyball, verb conjugations and tacos and I am ready for a change. In exactly a week I will be with my new companion... out on the streets or teaching...speaking Spanish... absolutley crazy to think about!!
We had our last day of promix on Saturday and when I walked into class I saw that Hermana Carballa was in a wheelchair... I could not tell you the reason why (she explained to me in spanish but I didn't understand haha) but it made for an interesting day! The next day she was ok though and out of the wheelchair which is good because she left for the field the next day. Promix was kind of difficult for me because I couldn't communicate very well but I really liked my companion and we seemed to get along ok despite the language barrier! I can now almost teach lessons in Spanish and I understand people ok but I have a long ways to go! As long as I can bare my testimony I think I will have a good foundation to build off of!
Hermana Nelson and I had some pretty good times together this week... specifically last friday... the elders in our district have been pulling small pranks on us since day 1 and we decided it was time for revenge. Thursday night they took our identifier cards and one of our room keys and switched them out with their own! We were confused when we got to our door and pulled out our identifiers/key only to see two of our elders faces on them, but it was pretty funny! Fortunately we had a spare key but we decided not to tell them that. Then next day we wore our roommates dresses (both of them are really tall so they looked a little weird on us) and told all the elders that we had to sleep in the cold, empty hallway of our dorm because they took our key and the other was locked in our room. We then had our roommates and several other friends come up to us during the day and talk very loudly in front of our elders about the "events" of the night before and give us things to borrow because all of our stuff was in our room! The dresses plus these well timed conversations plus some other thought out excuses left our elders absolutely penitent! They bought the prank! So much that we came back from lunch to our desks covered with treats and a handwritten and signed card by all the elders... at that point Hermana Nelson and I decided that the prank had gone far enough and told them the truth...you can only imagine all the elders reactions! We have since called a district wide truce on the pranking.
We have been going full crunch time in class this past week because it is our last! We are not aloud to speak English in class anymore and if we want to we have to run across the roomand press the emergency English button! I am going to miss my district and teachers so much! Good thing most of the elders in my district are going to Fresno! We all leave Wednesday morning at 2am for the airport and it is going to be a looooong day!! Anyways I love you all and wish everyone the best!! Thank you forall your emails and updates, I literally live fofor them some days haha! Have a wonderful week!
