08/29/19- Living icecream sandwich to icecream sandwich

Time is flying by so fast here! I can not believe it is already P day! Every P day we buy these ice cream sandwiches at the Tienda (which are literally the most delicious things ever) and it feels like I just had one yesterday...the days feel like weeks and the weeks feel like days here! Everyday I grow more and more excited to get to Fresno!
This week we had Pro mix, which is where you trade companions with a latin district and speak spanish all day! Hermana Carballa, the missionary i was paired with for the day, did not speak much english and my spanish is no bueno right now so for the first part of the day we mostly communicated through charades. We had to teach a lesson together in Spanish and that was really difficult for me. I am used to teaching with Hermana Nelson who speaks wonderful spanish and can kind of prompt me through the times I get stuck and so when our investigator asked a very difficult question to me my mind just went absolutely blank. I had no idea what to say in english or in spanish and I just sat there with my mouth open like a fish for about a minute. Hermana Carballa saved the day though and was able to answer the question and save the situation but i still felt discouraged. This lesson was just practice with a very kind teacher and mistakes are always to be expected from someone like me who has only been speaking and learning this language for 4 weeks... but that was a scary feeling. I want to work hard here in the CCM to learn the language and to learn the doctrine so that I dont fall into that type of situation again where I am literally at a loss for words! The rest of the day was much better and Hermana Carballa and I became really good friends by the end of our time! We will see each other again this Saturday for another Pro Mix!
I have learned that I speak the best spanish when I pray, so I am trying to say as many prayers as possible in class and in workshops!
This week two elders from our district left for a Latino district because they are almost fluent in Spanish. Two more elders came from Provo (their visas came 3 weeks late) and joined our district to replace them. It feels really weird to have new people in our district but the two Elders that joined us are really nice!
Ok, crazy story! On friday night something weird happened to all the water and pipes across the CCM campus and  the water turned black and sooty! The water in the sinks was coming out black and muddy and same for the water coming out of the showers! I was actually in the shower when the water made this sudden change and whatever was broken was not fixed until the next afternoon! So the next day in class I was little darker looking than usual!
That is all for this week! I love what I am doing and learning! Love you all, Have a wonderful week!
Here is my favorite scripture from the week... Helaman 3 verse 35
Hermana Allen
